Toner cartridge for image forming apparatus

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 2:17 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A toner cartridge for an image forming apparatus including a case body having a tubular portion, first and second end walls, and first and second positioning members. The first positioning member radially protrudes from the first end wall and has a flat end face. The first positioning member, which is used for positioning the toner cartridge at the start of loading the toner cartridge into the image forming apparatus, is aligned with a first guide in the image forming apparatus at the start of loading the toner cartridge. The second positioning member, which radially protrudes from the second end wall of the cartridge and has a flat end face, is angularly shifted from the first positioning member. After the first positioning member is aligned with the guide, the cartridge is rotated to align the second positioning member with a second guide in said image forming apparatus.

Toner cartridge with independent driven systems

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 2:16 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

In a toner cartridge, photoconductor drum (11) is driven by a gear (3) which is in the printer, toner adder roller (48) is driven independently by a face coupling (5) which is in the printer. On the opposite side, a gear train from toner adder roller (48) drives developer roller (42) and toner paddle (52). The two systems permit the cartridge to function in different printers requiring different ratios of speeds. Stiffness requirements of the cartridge are reduced. Movements are more consistent, and space utilization is enhanced.

Toner supply device mounted with a replaceable toner cartridge

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 2:15 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A toner supply device attachable to a developing device is provided with a toner cartridge mount portion on which a toner cartridge is mounted, a toner outlet in communication with the developing device, a conveyance path which connects the toner cartridge mount portion with the toner outlet, a conveying device for conveying a specified amount of toner in the toner cartridge from the toner cartridge mount portion to a position in the vicinity of the toner outlet, and discharging the toner through the toner outlet immediately when the toner is needed in the developing device. Accordingly, the toner can be supplied to the developing device immediately after the toner density in the developing device decreases below a proper level.

Toner cartridge recharging tool

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 2:14 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A toner cartridge recharging tool has a base that includes a workholder to receive and prevent significant axial movement of a toner cartridge. There is also a guide slot mount and a swivel arm mount attached to the base. The toner cartridge is inserted between a pair of receiving members and the adhesive strip seal is wrapped over the insertion tongue. The tongue guide shoe and the tongue itself are fit into the two guide slots and the swivel arms are engaged with a protrusion on the tongue guide shoe. Movement of the arm thus forces the insertion tongue into the thin slit in the side of the toner cartridge and, when the movement of the arm or arms is reversed, the adhesive strip seal is left in place.

Toner cartridge holder pin

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 2:13 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

An easily removable and reusable holding pin for securing together the sections of a toner cartridge assembly for use in imaging machines. The holding pin comprises a shank with a head structured to allow easy gripping of the pin by pulling tools. The head has a first portion wider than the shank which abuts against the wall of the assembly when the shank of the pin is inserted into the assembly to secure the sections together. The first portion separates the shank from a second portion of the head. The second portion is wider than the first portion of the head so it overhangs the first portion, providing a space between the second portion of the head and the assembly wall when the pin is installed in the cartridge assembly. The gripping parts of a tool may extend through this space to grip or otherwise contact the head of the pin, allowing the pin to be pulled from the assembly without damage to the pin or cartridge assembly.

Refurbished toner cartridge

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 2:13 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A refurbished toner cartridge includes a cover having elongated side dimensions with integral flanges and a mating bottle also having elongated side flanges, the flanges bonded to create an interior volume for holding a print toner. At one end of the cartridge is a toner fill opening which enables access into the interior volume. The refurbished cartridge further comprises a flexible bladder that is inserted through the fill opening and is positioned within the interior volume of the cartridge. Toner is contained in the bladder and is released upon the bladder being ruptured by user actuation of either an internal knife blade or a pull string attached to the bladder.

Toner cartridge seal

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 2:12 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A technique for providing an easy to remove leak-proof seal for shipment of a remanufactured toner cartridge. An adhesive-backed sealing strip is disposed over the feed roller of the hopper so that a seal is formed between the mylar blades and the feed roller. The excess portion of the sealing strip is then passed through a foam wiping assembly and out through a slit in the lid of the hopper. The toner is poured into the hopper over the sealed feed roller and the lid is then sealed onto the hopper prior to shipment. Upon receipt by the customer, the excess portion of the sealing strip extending out through the slit in the lid is simply pulled until the sealing strip is completely removed from the feed roller. Excess toner is removed from the sealing strip by the foam wiping assembly so that no toner escapes the hopper to leak onto the user’s clothing.

User-replaceable liquid toner cartridge with integral pump and valve mechanisms

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 2:12 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A user-replaceable liquid toner cartridge fits into a receptacle in an EP printer. The receptacle includes automatic fluid and mechanical connectors that mate with the cartridge upon its insertion. The cartridge includes a liquid toner supply reservoir, a pump connected to an outlet from the reservoir; a mechanical coupling that automatically engages a pump actuator that extends from the receptacle; and a three-port valve. The three-port valve is connected to an output from the pump and has a first port that communicates with the reservoir and a second port that communicates with an external wall of the cartridge. The fluid connector automatically connects to a fluid fitting in the receptacle upon insertion of the cartridge. The fluid fitting in the receptacle also automatically operates the valve in the cartridge and redirects liquid toner flow from a recirculation path to the cartridge’s reservoir and directs it into the receptacle’s fluid fitting.

Device for separating a toner cartridge

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 2:11 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

The present invention is a device for separating a toner cartridge hopper from its mounting member so that the cartridge can be reliably resealed and refilled with toner for repeated use. A container holds the cartridge while leaving the outer edge of the gasket exposed. In one embodiment, the container is provided with wheels that travel in a track. The container moves linearly along the track past a blade that cuts away the outer edge of the gasket. In a second embodiment, the container is positioned on a rail aligned to pass between two spaced-apart blades. The rail is mounted on a linear bearing so that the rail moves linearly past the blades to remove both gasket outer edges in a single pass. By removing the outer edges of the gasket, the welds that join the hopper and mounting member to the gasket are broken and the hopper can be separated from the mounting member.
