Toner cartridge with locking toner discharge opening

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 8:05 am

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A toner cartridge extending in a longitudinal direction thereof has a fresh toner chamber and a water toner chamber. The fresh toner chamber and waste toner chamber extend parallel to each other so that the fresh toner chamber and the waste toner chamber are aligned in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The waste toner chamber incorporates a toner-conveying member such as a screw conveyor. The screw conveyor extends between the opposed longitudinal ends, and causes the waste toner to move further into the waste toner chamber. The waste toner chamber has an entrance formed therein through which waste toner is received from a print process cartridge. The entrance opens yieldably when a waste toner exit enters the waste toner chamber through the entrance and closes when the waste toner exit moves out of the enters the waste toner chamber.

Process for recycling a toner cartridge

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 8:02 am

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A process is presented for recycling a toner cartridge, including a used magnetic roller and a used doctor blade. The process requires: (1) removal of the doctor blade and magnetic roller from the cartridge; (2) treatment of the doctor blade to restore the shape of said doctor blade; (3) coating of the doctor blade and magnetic roller with an antistatic and anti abrasive coating; and (4) placement of the doctor blade and magnetic roller back into the cartridge. Additional processes involving reuse of other toner cartridge components are also described.

Toner cartridge identification system for a printer

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 7:55 am

Toner Cartridge Abstract

An apparatus for communicating to a printer a type of installed printer cartridge, where the combination of the cartridge and the printer form a magnetic coupling that can generate a cartridge specific code to identify the toner cartridge as being of a predetermined type. In a preferred embodiment, the magnetic coupling is achieved using at least two reed switches preferably mounted on the printer, with the reed switches biased using fixed magnetic elements placed immediately adjacent the reed switches. In the absence of any further magnetic fields, the reed switches are selected to provide a known set of switch positions corresponding to a bit value of one (”1″) for an open circuit and a bit value of zero (”0″) for a closed circuit. Magnetic elements on a printer cartridge are positioned to be disposed adjacent the reed switches and opposite the fixed magnets, and of a size and field strength sufficient to counteract the fixed magnetic elements adjacent the reed switches when the cartridge is inserted into the printer. The positions of the reed switches on the printer may be transformed into a sequence of bits of “1″s and “0″s. This series of data (ones and zeros) can be used to distinguish one printer cartridge from another and allow automatic optimization of the printer settings based on the cartridge recognition.

Toner cartridge seal assembly

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 7:54 am

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A Toner Cartridge Seal Assembly including a gasket, a handle integral with a gasket, and a removable seal lying over the gasket. The handle which is integral with the gasket is in, one embodiment, removable by detaching the handle from the remainder of the gasket along a series of perforations. Alternatively, in another embodiment the handle may be folded over the gasket after the seal assembly is attached to the toner cartridge. The Toner Cartridge Seal Assembly of this invention is used to contain toner in a toner hopper during the transport of a toner cartridge. The removable seal is, in the preferred embodiment, integral with a tail. The tail folds back over the seal and extends outside of the cartridge. Upon arrival at its intended destination the end user pulls the tail removing the removable seal and exposing the toner in the toner hopper to the remainder of the toner cartridge. The invention is usable in both new and rebuilt or remanufactured toner cartridges.

Toner cartridge

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 7:53 am

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A toner cartridge for use in a laser printer has a toner reservoir or hopper in which a first paddle rotates about a fixed first axis to sweep most of the toner volume of the cartridge to agitate and push the toner out of the toner reservoir or hopper through an exit port. A second paddle is pivotally mounted on the first paddle to sweep a volume of the toner reservoir or hopper in which a portion of the longitudinal wall of the toner reservoir or hopper of the toner cartridge is non-circular so as to produce a reduced cross section in the toner reservoir or hopper. The second paddle also initially engages the curved portion of the inner surface of the longitudinal wall of the toner reservoir or hopper and preferably has a tear drop cross section.

Toner cartridge having an agitating paddle

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 7:52 am

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A toner cartridge including a cartridge body for containing toner, an agitating paddle for agitating toner and a toner blocking/setting prevention member operative in cooperation with the agitating paddle for preventing toner in the cartridge body from blocking or setting is provided. The toner blocking/setting prevention member may include a contacting projection provided on an agitating wing of the agitating paddle which contacts with a delivering spiral to oscillate the same. Further, the toner blocking/setting member may include an oscillating plate which is repelled by the rotation of the agitating paddle to assist in agitating toner.

Toner agitating and transporting member of a toner cartridge and developing device

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 7:48 am

Toner Cartridge Abstract

The invention is to provide a toner, a toner cartridge and a developing device using the same in that an excellent image without a defect on the image is obtained in a long period of time, and stable agitation and transportation can be conducted. In a toner cartridge containing a toner containing at least a binder resin, a colorant and wax, inside the toner cartridge, and a toner agitating and transporting member for supplying the toner under agitation and transportation, the toner contains the wax in an amount of from 3 to 10% by weight and has a mean particle diameter of from 3 to 10 .mu.m, and the toner agitating and transporting member is arranged as rotatably inside the toner cartridge to form a distance of from 0.5 to 3.0 mm between the member and an inner wall of a main body of the toner cartridge.
