Disposable toner cartridge for copying machines

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 6:07 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

Disposable toner cartridge for copying machine which has an outer casing with a first opening, and a container mounted within the casing and provided with a second opening. The container is movable between a position of containment of the toner, in which it is maintained during shipment, and a position of discharge, in which it is turned upon positioning of the cartridge in the copying machine and in which the first and second openings are aligned for discharging therethrough the toner into the copying machine. The casing is provided with clamping elements for clamping the container in the discharge position to prevent any subsequent movement of the container starting from the discharge position, so avoiding the re-use of the cartridge.

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A toner cartridge including a hollow body of cylindrical form made of nonmagnetic material to serve as a container formed at its outer peripheral surface with a toner feeding slot extending lengthwise thereof, a first lid member attached to one end of the hollow body and formed at the outer peripheral surface of its end portion with a flange, a second lid member attached to the other end of the hollow body and formed at its bottom with a toner supply port, a cap member closing the toner supply port, and a sealing member that can be peeled off closing the toner feeding slot formed at the outer peripheral surface of the hollow body. The second lid member is formed of thin sheet metal by bending same at its outer peripheral edge portion in a manner to provide a minuscule clearance between a bent portion and the thin sheet metal and the hollow body is inserted at the other end thereof in the bent portion and secured in place. The hollow body is formed at its outer peripheral surface with a groove and the first lid member is formed at its outer periphery with a projection, so that the projection can be brought into locking engagement in the groove when the first lid member is attached to the hollow body.

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A toner cartridge suitable for use with a developing device of the magnetic brush type using a magnetic toner for an electrostatic recording apparatus including a hollow, cylindrical container closed at opposite ends and formed with a longitudinally extending toner supply opening. The container has a knob at one end and a projection on the outer circumferential surface of the other end. When the cartridge is fitted in a hopper, the projection is inserted in a guide groove formed in an upper portion of the hopper and the cartridge is moved deep into the hopper. Upon completion of fitting, the projection is released from engagement with the guide groove, to allow the container to rotate to feed a charge of magnetic toner from the vessel to the hopper.

Process for manufacturing a xerographic toner cartridge

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 6:05 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A process for manufacturing a xerographic toner cartridge containing a heat-fusible toner powder situated in a container having an open end surrounded by a peripheral lip. An elongated tongue of a material having non-directional shear strength characteristics is placed on top of the opening, with a thermoplastic adhesive layer being disposed between the container lip and the tongue. The adhesive is activatable by heat and pressure, and once activated adheres more strongly to the peripheral container lip than to the tongue. The adhesive is bonded to the tongue and the peripheral lip by a heated platen having a shape conforming to that of the lip. The heat and pressure applied is sufficient to form the desired adhesive bonds, but the temperature and time employed are insufficient to cause deterioration of the toner powder in the container. The tongue is more than twice as long as the peripheral lip, and the free end of the tongue is folded back against the bonded portion thereof to act as a tab, the free end of said tab being detachably secured to an adjacent wall of the container.

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A toner cartridge for a xerographic copier, the cartridge having a flexible closure tongue which may be peeled from the cartridge when the same is in inverted position within the copier. The tongue is constructed of a material which has non-directional shear strength characteristics substantially unaffected by folding, and a tear strength substantially greater than the peel strength of the bond between the tongue and the cartridge, so that the tongue does not tear when it is peeled from the cartridge. The surface friction of the tongue material is sufficiently low so that the tongue may be peeled from the cartridge after the cartridge has been positioned so that the tongue is pressed against the periphery of the toner receptacle within the copier.

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A toner cartridge for use in replenishing additional toner to a toner storing section of an imaging machine, such as an electrophotographic copier, which uses toner to produce a visible image is provided. The present toner cartridge includes a trough-shaped container having an opening, a cover which is large enough to encompass the opening and supported to be slidably movable with respect to the container between a closed position to close the opening and an open position to open the opening, and a seal member having one end fixed to the container and another end fixed to the cover. Thus, when the cover is moved from the closed position to the open position, the seal member is partly separated away from the container to make the opening half-open. Then, the seal member is pulled to completely open the opening to have the toner completely discharged from the container. Thereafter, the cover is returned to the closed position to close the opening. With such a structure, toner is completely prevented from being scattered.

Toner cartridge and method of replenishing toner to a xerographic device

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 6:03 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A bottom-dumping xerographic toner cartridge is protected by a storage and shipping package having strategically located zipper perforations, and a tuck-flap. One end of the package is removable by virtue of certain zipper perforations. Removal of this end, and operation of other zipper perforations, results in the tuck-flap being exposed for use in mounting the package on the reproduction device whose toner supply is to be replenished. The toner cartridge is then moved out of the package, into the reproduction device. The now-empty package remains supported in a position to catch the toner cartridge’s traveling-fold seal, and any toner which may be transported out of the cartridge on the face of the seal.

Toner cartridge with removable sleeve closure

Filed under: Toner Cartridge — admin @ 5:59 pm

Toner Cartridge Abstract

A toner cartridge for use in a copying machine for supplying fresh toner to the developer for the machine is disclosed as being formed with an elongated opening to permit discharge of toner when inverted. A removable flexible strip covers the opening and is detachably held to the cartridge by adhesive material. The strip comprises a flattened sleeve having the edges of one of its sides adhesively held onto the cartridge across the opening and a pulling member retained in the sleeve with one of its ends connected to one end of the sleeve so that a gradual pulling of the other end of the member progressively removes the sleeve as the same is turned within itself or inside out thereby carrying toner particles adhering to the sleeve within the sleeve.
